Video Games
Video games are pretty high-profile compared to most of the other things we do. Games have passionate fan bases with, um, strong opinions about the quality of the acting. If you think about it, this is the only genre where the audience is literally interacting with the voice: rather than passively listening, the player is making choices… and hearing other characters react to them.
Game characters find themselves in some heightened situations (Zombies!!!). Even so, video game acting frequently requires grounded, natural, real voices. These characters are actual people, having honest conversations. (I mean, unless you’re an evil sorceress or a giant flame monster…)
My voice is popular as law enforcement, detectives, and desperate moms finding the strength to rescue their kids. (And evil sorceresses.)
